Well I'm all alone  *sniff*  I took my Mom back to New York On April 1st and I came back on that Sunday.  To be honest I'm a little lonely now * Sniff*. Although I really haven't had much time for any little lonely tears to fall because I have been ultra busy helping my friend to plan her baby shower.(those pictures coming soon!!)   Anyway. I promised to post some pix from my very short trip to New York. So to that end I present the extremely short  picture presentation :

          In A New York State Of Mind!

Ok. I know that you've seen the inside of  a New York Subway train in countless movies, but here goes a real life brief shot of the inside of  a New York subway.

That of course is me.

That is my cousin Azizi.

We decided to galavant a little through Manhattan before I left to head back home later in the day.

We are on the D train coming from the Bronx Heading to Manhattan.

Did you know that you can get all over New York City by subway??!! You don't even need a car at all!

It's a good thing too, because parking in Manhattan is horrendous!! You have to pay by handing over your first born. (it's just that expensive)

Here's another odd yet funny tidbit: It takes longer to travel from The Bronx to Brooklyn by subway than it takes to fly from Atlanta ,Ga to New York, NY.

Bronx to Brooklyn = 2hrs.

Atlanta to New York = 1 hr 45 min (sometimes less if you catch a decent tailwind!!!)

It seems as if everyone has a common misconception of New Yorkers. Some of the stereotypes are : New Yorkers are : mean, pushy, loud, all ways in a hurry, rude, and selfish.(yeesh That sounds like I'm describing me!! --- Just kidding!)

New Yorkers might be alot of things, but they must not be too selfish if you have to beg them to stop giving to the homeless on the subways.

 

Finally, after a half hour ride, we have arrived here at the world famous 34th street and 6th avenue station! I guess you say world famous??!! What??!! How can that be? What do I care about an old grungy street in New York? Hmmm. Tell me, does the famous Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade ring any bells??  How about The Empire State Building?? Now tell me if you are at least slightly more interested in 34th street??

Well this is interesting. It seems as if while New Yorkers go about their fast paced lives traveling though the massive subway system, they are entertained. You know what they say about music's calming influence!

Enjoy the free concert while you can get it folks, 'cause these guys may be coming to a stadium near you someday!!

After a full afternoon of fun and craziness, sadly it's time to head back home! I might be lonely, but this new purse I got says I'm not emptyhanded!!!

I wonder if the sky feels as blue as I do??

Ya, that time to travel is amazing.
I went to Hawaii once and it took longer to get from the airport to down town Honolulu becuase of all the congestion than it did to fly across the Pacific. And they can't do subways there as there is water to near the surface of the ground.

Hi Synthia! You must miss your mom after all those months! But it's good news that she's recovered enough to go home.

I gotta tell you the story of my first kiss in New York. I was walking down the street with a friend, and there was a girl working hard to restrain a young boxer (the dog, not the profession), who was trying to chase after everyone who walked by. I made some sort of comment or gesture, and the girl said, "She has to say 'hi' to SOMEBODY!!!" So I bent down to give the dog (her name was Ruby) a little pat. Next thing I know, there's a huge paw on my knee because of this dog using it as a step-stool to get up to my face and plant a big lick right on my cheek. So there it is. My very first kiss in New York. I'll never forget you, Ruby!!!!!!

Soory to hear about you mother leaving... I know my mom right now is some where in Egypt Africa, or in Israel, or Palistine Asia for vacation. Yes Vacation, it has alway been her dream to see the pyramids (Mine too) and since the Middle East will never get better, she though .. "Why not, I'm going and keeping it in God's hands." (This I pray is the case, and she comes home safely.)
